Order PSACheck Now for £85

PSACheck is a simple, safe, affordable and convenient way to be screened for prostate cancer in the comfort of your own home. Our PSACheck test at-home kit includes Free and Total PSA for men aged 40+.

Why should I use PSACheck?

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men across the UK with more than 47,700 men diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. This means that 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. Men with prostate cancer often have no symptoms , unless the disease is detected at a late stage, and there is currently no national NHS screening programme for prostate cancer, so screening is vital in protecting your health and early detection of prostate cancer could save your life!

Nearly half of all men are expected to develop prostate cancer at some point in their life. The chances of survival are extremely high in those that are diagnosed when there are no symptoms and when the disease is confined to the prostate gland.

Prostate cancer mainly affects men over the age of 50 years and your risk increases with age. Black men are more likely to get prostate cancer than other men and at a younger age.

What is Free and Total PSA Testing ?

Measurement of free and total PSA can improve the accuracy of PSA testing in diagnosing men with prostate cancer. In general, the higher the percentage of free PSA, the less likely that prostate cancer will be found. While most results will include both free and total PSA, in some men the PSA level is so low that is it not necessary to measure the free PSA, as the risk of prostate cancer is so low.

When do I get my results back?

  • You will receive your results letter from your PSACheck within one week of the test.
  • If your PSA test is normal, there should be no further action required.
  • It should be noted however that there is a small chance (approximately 15%) of cancer being present but going undetected.
  • If your PSA test reveals that your PSA levels are slightly raised, we will advise you to have a repeat test in approximately six weeks' time.
  • With your results you will receive a risk-stratified screening programme.

What happens if my test results are abnormal?

We will telephone you if you have an abnormal test in advance to explain the available options and reduce any anxiety.

  • If your PSA test levels are found to be abnormally high, we will advise you on the next steps.
  • Remember, a raised PSA level does not always mean that you have prostate cancer, raised levels do however need to be investigated.
  • Should you have an abnormal test result, you may be eligible for referral to a private consultant or to the NHS via your GP.

Whilst undergoing prostate cancer screening will not prevent prostate cancer, it can help to detect cancers at an early stage so you can get treatment early. If you are worried about prostate cancer, PSACheck is a simple testing kit that you can do in the comfort of your own home. No prostate cancer screening test can be guaranteed to be 100% accurate, and a positive result from PSACheck will mean that further investigations are likely to be recommended.
